Carriageworks is the largest and most significant contemporary multi-arts centre of its kind in Australia. The Carriageworks Artistic Program supports and encourages leading Australian and international artists through commissioning and presenting contemporary work. The building itself is worth the visit alone. It is housed in the old Everleigh Rail Yards and has been developed by the NSW government through Arts NSW. The 19th century industrial atmosphere of the former railway carriage and blacksmith workshops have been retained, with many heritage iron and brick details featured in the regeneration of the building. At Carriageworks you will find The Cornerstone Bar and Food... it's open everyday 10am-5pm (stays open later Thursday through to Saturday) and serves cocktails, craft beers and wine, coffee and a selection of share plates and daily specials. On Saturdays between 8am and 1pm there is a farmers market that features seasonal produce from farmers and artisan producers from across New South Wales. You will not be disappointed.
